Joel Eden
About: I am a PhD candidate in Information Science at Drexel's iSchool.
My dissertation research focuses on applications of Distributed and Extended theories of the mind to user experience and service design related evaluation and design methods.
My research also looks at how differences in materiality of artifacts (everyday stuff like paper versus more high-tech) impacts design and evaluation views of the contribution of those artifacts to (cognitive) accomplishment. This is for intended final materiality, rather than fidelity in prototyping.
I am also interested in applications of bio-inspired processes (i.e. evolution), and outcomes (e.g. animal foraging).
Favorite Distributed Cognition / Extended Mind Quote: 'Mindfulness is just matter, nicely orchestrated.'
