My First Time at the IA Summit
Posted Friday, February 29, 4:31AMHello. This will be my first attending the IA Summit. What can I expect? Any advice?
I am really excited about the whole thing - presentations, posters, and meeting others. I have been a hermit in the IA world most of my life. I also am not very active onlin, which seems weird to say since I've been online for almost 25 years. I think I got burned out computers and the internet a few years ago.
So, I just bought my tickets and booked my flight from California. I will be coming out with my wife. She is not attending the seminar.
The last seminar I went to was Star Wars Celebration 4 in LA! Imagine, 3 days of presentations and speakers all about Star Wars. It was my first time at one of these events, and so much fun! The advice everyone had there was you'll only get to do half of what you want you to do. :)
Thanks for your time.
Cory

Hi Cory, welcome!
Another attendee asked similar questions and got some good answers - check these out.

Hey, the IA Summit could be even as much fun as the Star Wars Celebration - with a different set of costumes.
My husband and toddler are coming along with me, too. There might be a whole bunch of family members soaking up sun and visiting - what? Seaworld?
Hey Cory!
I too have been a hermit for about 10 years. I didn't think there was such a large community of us out there. There is strength in numbers and the collective experience of the community benefits us all.
This will be my first IA Summit as well. It's going to be an immersive experience with all sorts of people to network with.
Very cool.
Mostly just mingle with folks, meet people, vote with your feet to find the most interesting talks, approach the people whose work or presentations you like.
Welcome Cory! I find that IA Summit folks are incredibly friendly and always interesting. You're going to love it. :)
