Any advice for a first-timer?
Posted Tuesday, February 5, 5:54PMI'm looking forward to my first visit to the IA Summit this year, travelling all the way from the UK.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I can get the most out of the workshops and conference?

You'll definately want to meet Dennis Schleicher, who cares a great deal about the newbees getting the most out of the conference.
Newbies, oldies, and everyone can also get more out of the conference by stopping by the IA Institute Mentoring Booth. It'll look something like this: http://flickr.com/photos/stsurla/123778554/
Hi Ian, I am the social chair this year and have been working on coordinating a bunch of things for new comers. As Stacy mentioned, stopping by the mentor booth is a great idea. We typically also have first timers lunch tables, where some older conference attendees meet and chat with first timers. The trading cards activity is also designed to help new comers since it is a great conversation starter. For more information on these, check out the extras section under the program tab.
I've asked Dennis Schleicher (a volunteer) to help out with ice breakers targeted specifically to new comers on the reception night. We're meeting later this week to chat about some additional ideas and are planning to write an article in a few weeks on tips for new comers. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for the replies. I'm really looking forward to the summit now!
